Underrated Guards
Guard play is critical to success in the high school game. Teams that have success and win consistently usually do so via great guards. We are excited about the high-level of guards we have in the Battle for Nashville. Here are a few that fly under-the-radar that are worth checking out December 26-28 at Battle Ground Academy!
Osby Cavin (Pope Prep / 6’2 / 2026) - Osby is not only be one of the most skilled guards at the Battle for Nashville, Osby is one of the most skilled guards in Tennessee. Currently, Osby is averaging around 20 PPG on one of the top teams in the state. He is currently being recruited by multiple LM/MM D1 programs.
Jake Harney (Battle Ground Academy / 5’10 / 2026) - You won’t find many guards tougher than Jake Harney. Jake is a bit undersized but skilled with the ability to fill every line of a stat sheet. He can impact the game in every aspect and his best attribute is his will to win.
Eli Brown (The Webb School / 6’3 / 2026) - Eli is one of the most well-rounded guards in the Battle for Nashville. Eli can play both guards spots effectively, shoot from the perimeter at a high-level, and defend top-tier guards. One of the things he does best is making the right decision with an advantage. Eli makes the right play, whether to shoot or pass, majority of the time which makes him an asset to any team.
Isiah Ring (Hume Fogg / 6’3 / 2026) - Combo guard that can defend multiple positions with his length and athleticism on the perimeter. Isiah is capable of scoring when needed and is efficient when doing so.
Lawson Gillispie (Battle Ground Academy / 6’5 / 2026) - Lawson is a guy that has as much upside as anyone on this list. He has great positional size, a quick release on the perimeter, and can play above the rim in transition. Lawson is one to keep on your radar as he continues to mature and progress.
Jeromy Davis (Brentwood Academy / 6’5 / 2026) - As one of the best shooters and athletes in the event, Jeromy Davis is one that will light up the scoreboard in a hurry for Brentwood Academy. Jeromy has the potential to be a D1 guard due to his size, athleticism, and perimeter skill.
